Bio

Jordyn King is a performance poet and author based out of Atlanta, GA, whose work often deals with intersections of Blackness and Queerness. They are an active member of Atlanta’s slam scene, and they are currently working on their third book, Paris Resurrected, which they hope will serve as a stepping stone for anyone who is struggling with their queer identity.

Evening Invitational Slam hosted by Theresa Davis

The annual Decatur Book Festival Invitational Poetry Slam organized by Poetry Atlanta and Java Speaks will showcase the members of the Art Amok and Java Slam teams as well as invited competitors. The slam will be held Aug. 31 at 8 p.m. at Ammazza Decatur, 314 E. Howard St. Participants will include Carlos Barboza, Cat Taylor, Nikki Gray, Nate Mask, Ryan J, Ember Webb, Erin Claridy, Adan Bean, Christina Schmitt, Ashlee Haze, and Jordyn King.
