Paula L White is a child advocate, a senior policy analyst for Democrats for Education Reform (DFER), and the author of SHAPE: The 5 Keys to Parenting from Research and Real Life. Her book combines solid science with practice-proven common sense to help parents support a holistic vision of their children’s success. She holds a bachelors degree in Child Development from Spelman College and a masters degree in Education Leadership from Columbia University. She taught 5th grade for several years in Atlanta Public Schools and is the founder of a successful charter school in Newark, NJ. White is a member of the New Jersey Council for Young Children, the state’s advisory council for early care and education, and she writes regularly about parenting issues for Psychology Today. Her most treasured role is the one she holds as the mother of her 3 sons.
