Sheila Smith McKoy is a literary critic, poet, fiction writer, and documentary filmmaker. Her books include One Window’s Light: A Collection of Haiku, The Elizabeth Keckley Reader: Artistry, Culture, and Commerce, The Elizabeth Keckley Reader: Writing Self, Writing Nation, When Whites Riot: Writing Race and Violence in American and South African Cultures. Her latest film, Maama Watali and Luwero: A Conversation about War, Peace and Gender, focuses on a post-conflict region in Uganda. Smith McKoy is chair and professor of English at Kennesaw State University.
