Nury Castillo Crawford

3,585 Miles to be an American Girl

Nury Castillo Crawford is a Peruvian American. Born in Peru, South America, Nury emigrated to the USA when she was just ten years old. The transition to school, daily life and a completely new world taught Nury many life lessons such as family unity, perseverance and knowing the key to happiness which is loving yourself. Her first bilingual, children's book is inspired by her personal journey. Nury's goal is to share her story with as people as possible. She wants to share the story of an immigrant from a child's point of view and to help children realize that their current challenges do not necessarily reflect their ultimate potential.

Nury is currently a local school district educator and the President of GALAS: Georgia Association of Latino Administrators and Superintendents.
