Julie Newton

Julie Newton is an assistant conservator for the Emory Libraries Conservation Department where her primary responsibility is the treatment and exhibition of books and documents from the libraries’ special collections. During her tenure with the libraries she has also cared for unusual materials in the archives such as a lock of Alice Walker’s hair, James Dickey’s paddle, Jack Kerouac’s backpack, letters by the Freedom Riders written in jail on toilet paper, swords, golf clubs, and a crystal ball.
