The AJC DBF prides itself in offering attendees with access to a wide range of literary genres, topics, and focuses. This year, we are committed to highlighting all the ways festivalgoers can get outside of their literary routines and #READdifferent at #dbf2015.
To celebrate this idea, we will be holding a #READdifferent social media contest with prizes like tickets to the sold out Keynote event with Erica Jong and Roxane Gay, two nights in the downtown Decatur Courtyard Marriott, VIP Party passes, #READdifferent swag, and of course, books!
Hooked yet? Here’s how you can participate:
Step 1: Read about the #READdifferent concept here: http://bit.ly/1J1vKfA and here http://bit.ly/1DKehb8.
Step 2: Think of a creative example of a prominent literary icon or historical figure reading outside their comfort zone. Our best examples? Shakespeare reading Fifty Shades of Grey, Flannery O’Connor reading The Twilight Saga, Frederick Neitzche reading Calvin and Hobbes, or William Faulkner reading Ernest Hemingway.
Step 3: Post your idea on Facebook or Twitter using #READdifferent and #dbf2015 and tag @DBookFestival on Twitter or @DecaturBookFestival on Facebook by midnight on Monday, August 24. A panel of DBF team members will be reviewing submissions and selecting the three most creative ideas!
Step 4: Check back to the DBF Facebook Page on Friday, August 28 to see if you’ve been selected for the first, second, or third place prizes:
- 1st — 1 night in the Downtown Decatur Marriott over festival weekend, 2 tickets to the sold out Keynote event, 2 VIP Party passes, and #READdifferent t-shirt and pin.
- 2nd — 2 VIP Party passes and #READdifferent t-shirt and pin
- 3rd — DBF Book Bundle, and #READdifferent t-shirt and pin
