Gabbie McGee and The 3

Time: 11:15 AM – 12:00 PM

Location: The Entertainment Stage on the First Baptist Church of Decatur Lawn, 308 Clairemont Ave, Decatur, Georgia 30030

Gabbie McGee is a self-proclaimed “country gal”! Born and raised in the heart of the Mississippi Delta (Greenville, Mississippi), Gabbie brought her brand of soul-infused jazz to the Peach State in 2001, and she’s been wowing audiences from Alpharetta to Fayetteville ever since, making her known as an Atlanta music festival fan favorite!

Gabbie’s performances are absolutely soul-stirring, a true reflection of her deep affection for the fertile soil, strong hands, and giving hearts that helped shape her into the woman she is today—a woman determined to use her voice to make a positive impact in the world around her.

Passionate about jazz and preserving the art form for future generations, Gabbie is steadily becoming a recognizable face in the entertainment industry. With two independent albums under her belt, BMI Independent Songwriter’s Recognition for her song “Mississippi’s Daughter,” the 2014 Belk Modern Southern Music Award, the 2014 Mississippi Arts Council Artist of the Year Award, and featured appearances in the 2015 Emmy Award-winning HBO feature film Bessie as well as the 2016 Academy Award-nominated Hidden Figures, Gabbie is a force to be reckoned with.

Heralded by talk show host, author, and celebrated comedian Steve Harvey as one of the best singers to ever stand on his stage, listeners, fans, and followers appreciate Gabbie’s fresh take on jazz standards as well as the sincere approach she takes in presenting her original works.

This year, Gabbie is thrilled to bring her band, The 3, to the Decatur Book Festival stage, under the brilliant musical direction of pianist and composer Sam Williams. Together, they’ll be creating an unforgettable experience that beautifully blends tradition with a touch of innovation—keeping the rich legacy of jazz alive in living color.
