Join acclaimed chef William Dissen for an insightful panel session where he shares his passion for sustainable cooking and the rich flavors of Appalachian cuisine from his debut cookbook, Thoughtful Cooking: Recipes Rooted In the New South. Discover how Dissen reinterprets the traditional recipes of his youth with a modern twist, emphasizing seasonal ingredients and the importance of sustainable agriculture.

The speaker session will be held on Saturday, October 5th at 12:30 PM on the Local Palate Culinary Stage in Carreker Hall of the First Baptist Church of Decatur. Emceed by Ligaya Figueras, AJC’s Senior Editor for Food & Dining, the event will feature a 45-minute discussion with William. Following the session, William will proceed to the signing tables to autograph books.

About the Moderator

Ligaya Figueras is the AJC’s senior editor for Food & Dining. Prior to joining the AJC in 2015, she was the executive editor for St. Louis-based culinary magazine Sauce. She has worked in the publishing industry since 1999 and holds degrees from St. Louis University and the University of Michigan.
