Founded in Atlanta in 1978, The Swimming Pool Q’s were among the first generation of Georgia’s celebrated New Wave bands that included The B-52’s, The Brains, Pylon and R.E.M. Their debut The Deep End [1981/2001] was an immediate classic of the creative pop sound being forged in Atlanta and Athens at the turn of that decade. They’ve toured with Lou Reed and the Police. The official release of The Swimming Pool Q’s: The A&M Years 1984-1986 was named a Top Ten reissue of the year by Rolling Stone in 2013.
Their magnum opus, Royal Academy of Reality (2003), will receive a double-vinyl restoration by DB Recs in 2025.
