Help Keep Our Story Alive
The Decatur Book Festival (DBF) is back, stronger than ever, and ready to write its next chapter!
Like many nonprofits, DBF faced significant challenges in the aftermath of COVID. The 2020 festival moved to a virtual format, followed by a small hybrid event in 2021, and a slightly larger one in 2022. By 2023, without permanent staff, our board made the difficult decision to pause and reassess. We took this time to reimagine the festival’s future and develop a strategy for a bold reemergence in 2024.
Now, we’re thrilled to be on the verge of an exciting new era. This year, we’ve secured a record level of sponsorship funding, and we are confident that this growth will continue. But the heartbeat of DBF has always been, and always will be, our individual supporters—people like you who understand the importance of a vibrant literary festival in our community and the power of grassroots backing.
Every gift, no matter the size, plays a vital role in sustaining the festival and keeping our shared love for books alive. Your donation is fully tax-deductible and directly supports DBF’s mission to inspire, connect, and engage readers and writers for generations to come.
Join us today. Together, we can build a stronger future and ensure that the Decatur Book Festival thrives for years to come.

"I love the Decatur Book Festival’s focus on books and words and ideas. It provides essential common ground for us to hear diverse voices and to explore different viewpoints. I am glad to continue to support the festival with my donations as well as with my participation because I want to help ensure that this local treasure endures to inspire future generations of readers and thinkers."
